Stress and Rescue

The Stress and Rescue course from SSI is designed to train divers on how to handle stressful situations during diving and perform rescues safely and efficiently. This course provides you with critical skills to respond to emergencies, whether your buddy is in trouble or you experience stressful situations underwater.

This course is perfect for divers who want to enhance their safety in the water and be better prepared to handle critical situations.

Theory on Stress:

You will learn the factors that can cause stress in divers, how to recognize them, and how to effectively manage anxiety and panic to ensure your safety and that of your buddies.

Pool Session:

You will learn and practice basic rescue techniques in a controlled environment, improving your ability to handle stressful situations and perform rescues safely.

Rescue Scenarios:

On days two and three, you will complete dives simulating real rescue situations, where you will apply the knowledge gained in the pool.

Rescue Theory:

During these days, we will also cover the necessary rescue theory, including procedures, techniques, and protocols for safely intervening in emergency situations underwater.

Rescue Techniques:

This will include rescuing an unconscious diver, safely bringing a buddy to the surface, and managing a panicked victim underwater, among other emergency situations.

Prerequisites:

You must be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver by SSI or another recognized diving agency.

Objective:

Learn to manage stress during diving and acquire the necessary skills to perform underwater rescues effectively and safely, both for yourself and for other divers.

International Certification:

Upon completion, you will receive the Stress and Rescue certification from SSI, which qualifies you to manage stress during dives and perform rescues effectively in emergency situations.

Increased Safety:

You will acquire the skills necessary to ensure both your own safety and the safety of others during dives, knowing how to manage emergencies with confidence.

Preparedness for Any Situation:

You will feel equipped to respond to any type of stress or accident during a dive, which will increase your ability to handle complex situations calmly and effectively.

Duration

Day 1:

On the first day, we cover theory on stress in diving and conduct the entire pool session, familiarizing ourselves with rescue techniques in a controlled environment.

Day 2 and 3:

During these days, in addition to completing four practical dives in realistic rescue scenarios, we will also cover rescue theory. During these days, we will work on managing various stress situations and underwater emergencies, and practice rescue techniques in real-life scenarios.
